A Word From Ali

My brothers and sisters,

Peace, mercy, and blessings of God upon you!

I'm sorry with all my heart for what I did to myself, my father, my mother, Mama Mona, Aunt Omaimah, and all my family members, friends, and loved ones, for the pain and suffering that I have caused and for which I am the only one to blame.

Yes, I violated my own rights and those of others when I was driving my car without a seat belt and texting in my mobile phone. I felt so invincible until my violations of the law crushed me. A simple mistake cost me years of my life, lost in vain, and I have lived since then through bitterness and pain, as this story will tell.

I benefited from my experience although it was repeated with others who died—God have mercy on their souls—and those who were paralyzed. They say that whoever benefits from one's experience only and does not apply the lessons learned from the experience of others is stupid. Yes, I admit I was stupid.

Thank God Almighty, Whose kindness saved me and gave me a lesson I will never forget in my life. This has compelled me to ask my father to publish my story, hoping that it will be a sermon to others.

The first lesson I have learned is to respect the traffic laws that are written with an aim to keep us all safe. I will give you one last tip: Fulfill your responsibilities and then depend on God for your safety; specifically, fasten your seat belt and turn off the phone while driving.

May the Lord bless you and keep you safe.
